For engineering you need materials that cannot be bought at any station and need to be farmed. Below you can find links to good and efficient material gathering sites and explanations on how to farm there. You will not find every material in this list, only the one worth the time of farming. If you need materials not in this list, you should trade for them at a material trader.
Raw materials are the easiest to farm, but the best sites for farming are often far outside of the bubble. Below you can find a list of raw matrial farming sites and a list of farmable materials at these sites.
HIP 36601 is a sytem with many different material gathering planets on which we find forests with crytalline shards. The system is 1598,86ly away from sol. You can find more information in this system here.
Outotz LS-K D8-3 is a system very similar to HIP 36601 with many different material gathering planets on which we find forests with crytalline shards. The system is 1714,08ly away from sol. You can find more information in this system here.
Manufactured Materials take the longest to farm, but this is possible fairly close to the bubble.
Encoded Materials can be optained through many different activities like wake scanning, but can be farmed at data links as well.
The “Bug Killer” site is an okay way of farming encoded materials. It is definetly faster then Dav’s Hope, but not as good as Jameson’s Crashsite. But as you can farm raw materials here as well, you could combine these two. You can find more information here
